I'VE MADE IT TO THE EAST COAST SUGAR PIES!

I was given the opportunity to travel to the East Coast with the MUA Maddy Shine to film for YouTube, explore the best eateries, Vlog our daily adventures, and bask in the dreamy lights of the fully lit skyline. I am so unbelievably excited to tour this city and show you all we find! Every day I'll try my best to highlight a few parts of the day! Everything will be uploaded to Youtube this coming week and I am so so so happy to share with y'all!

DAY ONE: MANHATTAN

Airport Survival: Check online to see what time your airline is closing their counters because each have their own rules for what time you can go through security! We flew Virgin and online it said midnight, but they closed 30 min before their last departure's gate closed! We ended up sleeping in the ticket counter waiting area for 5 hours! Yet, nothing could make us sad! We logged into their wifi and caught up on Bachelor in Paradise :)

Transportation in NY: Our flight was really easy (though delayed for over an hour) and we flew in at JFK in the late afternoon. We are staying just two blocks away from the Empire State Building so we decided to use the BEST transportation app: VIA Rideshare to get to our lovely penthouse! Our driver was so sweet, so helpful, and made sure we got to our destination with ease and in the most comfortable ride. The pricing was so much better than a taxi or Uber! This was definitely our NYC Hack #1. Download it NOW if you are heading this way!

Penthouse Reveal: Our home for the next few weeks is just a block away from subway transportation, Starbucks, Taverns, Restaurants and anything you could ever think of needing (even a fresh press juicery!) Climbing into the elevator we realized we were on the top Penthouse floor just below our rooftop garden! The living room faces the Empire State building to our front left and the Chrysler Building to our front right. The view is unbelievable and extremely humbling. It took us a good 2 hours of staring out the window to finally walk downstairs to head to dinner. More pictures and house tour to come on YouTube in a few days.

Dinner in Manhattan: We wanted to start out our trip with a great dinner to really enjoy the food, culture, and relieve ourselves of the hectic stress of the past few travel days! We decided to walk a block to Hillstone NYC in Midtown. We ordered off the sushi menu for two starter dishes. Looking around, we found ourselves submerged in the ultimate first whirlwind that is NYC. The tourists walked around with their bags slung across their bodies, held tightly even in the dimmed restaurant. The NY date night couples were taking their seats in the narrow, intimate booths. The servers were professional and brisk in their service, mannerisms, and suggestions. Our second course came out and I was in LOVE with the veggie burger (sans butter & cheese, ADD avocado). Though the restaurant is slightly pricey, the food is heavenly, the ambiance is welcoming, and this is NYC sugar.

Night Routine: Our night walk back was interrupted by a stop for coffee. Heading up the elevator, we decided to call it an early night and put on Sex and the City Reruns. I wish I was a Samantha, but I am a TOTAL Carrie. The lights of the skyscrapers illuminate our living room, and we snack on my left over fries from dinner. As we sit on the red leather couch, we plan our day out for tomorrow. We will be heading over to the Bushwick Flea Market tomorrow after brekkie. Thank you for reading!

I'll keep you updated with the trip: Snapchat UN: (IAMSIMPLYVEE), Instagram, and Twitter! Waking up early tomorrow to film and shoot a morning Lookbook!
